Concrete Polishing — The Green Solution
Polished concrete is concrete that has been treated with a chemical densifier and ground with progressively finer grinding tools. The finer the grinding pads, the smoother and shinier the floor appears.
The benefits of concrete polishing are huge. The biggest benefit of polished concrete is that it is a tremendous flooring design option because it makes use of materials already present. Since most buildings are already built on a concrete slab, polishing the concrete eliminates the material and energy consumed by applying a floor covering. Thus, polished concrete is truly a GREEN SOLUTION toward modernizing your building.
Another benefit is that you are able to stain or dye the concrete to create any number of design variations on your floor. You are only limited by your imagination. You can also add saw cuts, colors or various shades of glossy or dull finishes.
In addition to the benefits of flexibility and the environmentally sound aspects of polishing, polished concrete flooring is very hard-wearing and will not chip or indent like wood or tile. Highly polished concrete also reduces your lighting needs by improving the natural lighting in your facility. And if the floor is properly maintained using just warm soapy water, the floor will have an extremely long life span particularly when compared to tile or carpet that may have to be replaced every 10-20 years.
The Polished Concrete Industry has grown tremendously over the last ten years because of the above reasons. And, as to be expected, R.P. Coatings has become part of this growth. We have recently purchased ten of the finest and toughest grinding and polishing machines made from both SASE and Diamatic. And with our new fleet of hepa filter vacuums from Ermator, we have the economic and environmentally safe way of handling all your polished concrete needs.
If you have questions or a desire to see if this new industry would be beneficial for your facility, please call R.P. Coatings and let one of our experts discuss with you all the benefits of re-invigorating your existing concrete slab. And, please ask us about available LEED credits for your next concrete polishing project.
